HC Deb 12 October 1943 vol 392 cc739-40W
Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Home Secretary whether he is satisfied that all appointments of members of the police forces of the country are submitted to two magistrates in petty sessions in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 of the Police Act, 1839; and, if not, will he call the attention of all chief constables to those provisions?

Mr. H. Morrison

I understand that it is the normal practice for the declaration which has to be made by a constable on appointment to be taken at petty sessions, and I do not think that any further action is required on my part.
