HC Deb 12 October 1943 vol 392 c739W
Captain Studholme

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been drawn to a resolution of the Devon County Education Committee that it is desirable that the admission of children under 16 years of age to fun fairs should be prohibited by law; and whether he proposes to take any action in the matter, in view of the fact that the taking part in the games permitted to be played in these places has not a good moral influence on young people?

Mr. H. Morrison

The proposal made in the resolution passed by the Devon Education Committee to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers has already been the subject of full inquiry, and in answer to a Question put to me by the hon. Member for Newport (Sir R. Clarry) on 18th March last I informed him that as the result of these inquiries I had come to the conclusion that there were not sufficient grounds to justify me in proposing at the present time new statutory provisions to control admission to fun fairs.
