§ Sir A. Knoxasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that, while to witness matches by the Slough United Football Club the ordinary entrance ticket cost 6d. including ¾d. Entertainments Duty, the local Customs and Excise officer has assessed the tax on a season ticket of 10s. at 4s. 7d., on a charge of 2.29d. per entrance even if all the 24 matches are attended; and whether he will arrange for a lower rate of tax on the season tickets more in accordance with the ¾d. tax on single entrances, as otherwise the club will be forced to discontinue the issue of season tickets which would be to the disadvantage of the Treasury?
