HC Deb 15 October 1942 vol 383 cc1787-8W
Mr. Thorne

asked the Home Secretary whether juvenile court cases are on the increase in all parts of the country; and what the increase has been in the borough of West Ham for the past 12 months?

Mr. H. Morrison

Both in 1940 and in 1941 the number of juvenile court cases was substantially higher than in previous years. Later figures for the whole country are not yet available, but I have no reason to think that the increase is progressive. In West Ham there were 203 cases in the twelve months ending on the 31st August last as compared with 217 in the previous twelve months.
