asked the Postmaster-General to state for the latest convenient date the total amount of savings in the Post Office Savings Bank; the number of depositors; the number of withdrawals; and the amount for the year ending 1942?

The number of depositors in the Post Office Savings Bank at the 31st May, 1942, was approximately 15,800,000 and the aggregate balance due to them was £901,714,000. The number of withdrawals during the year ended 31st March, 1942, was 24,546,000 and the amount was £120,924,000.
