asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will announce the date on which payment will be made of the extra 6d. per day to soldiers' wives living in the London postal area; the retrospective period it will cover; and whether it will be necessary to make specific application?

Paymasters have been authorised to pay the additional amounts due in respect of the decision referred to in a lump sum covering the period from 4th December, 1939, or later date from which the conditions of entitlement have been fulfilled, to 25th February, 1940, inclusive; and, if in any such cases that payment has not already been made, it will be completed in the course of a few days. Application is not necessary.
