HC Deb 06 February 1940 vol 357 c52W
Mr. Brooke

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in fairness to men whose homes are in evacuation areas, and in view of the importance of children not being brought back into those areas, he will arrange that men proceeding on leave and entitled to free railway warrants shall be enabled to use this warrant for the purpose of visiting both their homes in an evacuation area and their children in a reception area?

Mr. Stanley

The free warrant will not be available for more than one destination, but the soldier will be able to select his destination and to break his journey. Should he wish, during his leave, to visit a place not on the journey covered by the warrant, he will be able to take advantage of the usual half-fare concession.
