HC Deb 06 February 1940 vol 357 c52W
Mr. Burke

asked the Secretary of State for War whether craftsmen, such as carpenters, joiners, etc., when called up for military service, may have an opportunity of joining trade corps, thereby using their special abilities to the best advantage; and whether such men already called up will have opportunities of transferring to trade corps if they so desire?

Mr. Stanley

Tradesmen are required throughout the Army and not only in certain corps, and trade vacancies are filled by posting or transferring men possessing the necessary qualifications.
