HC Deb 09 November 1939 vol 353 cc450-1W
Mr. Riley

asked the Home Secretary how many persons have been arrested under the Defence of the Realm Regulations; how many are at present detained in custody; how many have been charged with specific offences; what number have been brought to trial; and how many are still being detained without being charged with specific offences?

Sir J. Anderson

I assume that this question relates to persons arrested under regulation 18B, since, as regards all the other regulations, any offender against such regulations must be charged with a specific offence and brought before a court without delay. As regards persons detained under regulation 18B, I would refer the hon. Member to the information given in a reply to-day to a question by the hon. Member for Westhoughton (Mr. Rhys Davies).
