HC Deb 09 November 1939 vol 353 c450W
Mr. T. Morris

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Information whether he will suggest to the British Broadcasting Corporation the desirability of announcing over the wireless each day the time at which the black-out commences and ends?

Sir E. Griģģ

The question is complicated by the fact that the black-out does not begin and end at a uniform time throughout the country, but varies with the times of sunset and sunrise. I am, however, informed by the B.B.C. that they are making arrangements to broadcast daily the times at which the black-out begins and ends in a number of areas spread over the country.
