HC Deb 21 March 1939 vol 345 c1134W
Sir R. Glyn

asked the Secretary of State for War whether it is proposed to issue two suits of overalls, one service dress, khaki, and one battle dress, to each soldier; and what has been decided as regards the issue of serge walking-out dress?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

The scale of uniform clothing for all soldiers in the Regular Army for whom battle dress is approved will be one suit of battle dress, one suit of service dress (already in the soldier's possession), and two suits of overalls for those entitled to wear them. The service dress suit will continue to be used for walking out unless the soldier wears mufti.
