asked the Minister of Labour the number of unemployed persons registered at the Maesteg, Ponty-cymmer, Ogmore Vale, Aberkenfig, and Bridgend Employment Exchanges for 1935, 1936, and to date, respectively?

, pursuant to his reply (OFFICIAL REPORT, 11th November, 1937; Vol. 328, col. 1815), supplied the following statement

The following table shows the numbers of persons, aged 14 years and over, registered as unemployed at the Employment Exchanges in question at a date in October of each of the years 1935, 1936 and 1937:

The following table shows the numbers of unemployed persons aged 14 and over registered at Employment Exchanges in South Wales and Monmouthshire at a date in October of each of the years 1935, 1936 and 1937:

Notes.—(1) The figures relate to Employment Exchanges in the counties of Glamorgan, Carmarthen, Cardigan, Brecknock, Pembroke, Radnor and Monmouth.

(2) The figures given for 18th October, 1937, have been compiled in accordance with the revised procedure for counting the unemployed introduced in September, 1937, under which persons subsequently found to be in employment at the date of the count are excluded from the figures.
