HC Deb 16 March 1937 vol 321 c1877W
Mr. Petherick

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies, in view of the propaganda sent out by wireless by several foreign countries in the Near East, if he will consider the setting up of a broadcasting station in Cyprus, the main object of which would be to disseminate news in the different languages used in those parts?

Mr. Ormsby-Gore

Careful consideration is being given to the question of the issue of broadcasts in languages other than English, and in this connection the possibility of making use of Cyprus will not be overlooked.
