HC Deb 02 February 1931 vol 247 c1459W
Mr. REMER

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been drawn to the position disclosed by the Treasury memorandum on the state of the Unemployment Fund; and whether, in view of the position therein disclosed, he intends to persist in increasing expenditure by providing a subsidy for grand opera?

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

My right hon. Friend will be fully prepared to justify this grant when the proper occasion occurs.
