HC Deb 02 February 1931 vol 247 c1459W
Mr. THORNE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the effect upon national finance of the increased flow of gold into France; whether any consideration has been given to the possibility of trying to avoid the competition between France and other countries; and whether he intends taking any action in the matter?

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

The question raised by my hon. Friend is hardly one I could deal with within the limits of an answer to a Parliamentary question, but I should like to refer him to the reply which my right hon. Friend gave on 27th January to my hon. Friends the Members for East Leicester (Mr. Wise) and North Bristol (Mr. Ayles). I will send him a copy.
