HC Deb 02 February 1931 vol 247 cc1458-9W
Mr. W. S. MORRISON

asked the President of the Board of Education how many assistant inspectors have been retired on old age pensions by the Board during the last 10 years before they had reached the maximum salary of their class or who had reached that salary during the last year of their service; what was the number of years of service in each case; and how many years' service a chief inspector must have to attain the maximum salary of his class?

Sir C. TREVELYAN

During the past 10 years 47 assistant inspectors retired from the Board's service on superannuation allowances before they had reached the maximum salary of their class, and during the same period 12 retired who had reached the maximum salary during the last year of their service. The average length of service of these officers was 31 years 8 months, 19 having completed over 35 years, 29 between 30–35 years, four between 25–30 years, and seven under 25 years. The salaries attaching to the posts of chief inspector (men) under the Board are fixed.
