HC Deb 02 December 1930 vol 245 c2018W
Captain BRISCOE

asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the production of fabric gloves and leather gloves during the month of October, 1929, and October, 1930, respectively?

Mr. W. R. SMITH

According to particulars furnished by the Joint Industrial Council for the glove-making industry, the number of fabric gloves cut during the month of October, 1929, by firms which, in 1924, employed 82 per cent. of the cutters in this industry, was 15,545 dozen pairs, as compared with 12,810 dozen pairs during October, 1930. Similar particulars in respect of leather gloves are not yet available, but I am in communication with the Joint Industrial Council, and I will send the figures to the hon. and gallant Member as soon as they are received.
