HC Deb 11 December 1928 vol 223 c1938W

asked the Minister of Transport the number of railway companies which have decided to replace wooden, sleepers by steel ones; and the approximate number of tons of steel that would be used in the event of all British railway companies adopting such a course?

Colonel ASHLEY

As regards the first part of the question, I am not in a position to add to the reply which I gave on 6th December to the hon. and gallant Member for Maidstone (Commander Bellairs). As regards the second part, I am not in possession of the data necessary to make any estimate.
