HC Deb 07 December 1928 vol 223 c1568W
Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Minister of Health the amount of extra revenue the Metropolitan Water Board will receive in consequence of the increase in assessments of property within the area covered by the Board; the present rate-able value of the said area on which they levy the water rate; and the rate-able value when the assessments are increased?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

An increase in assessments will not necessarily result in any increase in the revenue of the Water Board, since the revenue in any year is determined by reference to the annual expenditure on revenue account for that year and the rate is fixed at an amount which, with other income, will be sufficient, so far as can be estimated, to meet the annual expenditure. I am unable to give the information asked for in the second and third parts of the question.
