HC Deb 07 December 1928 vol 223 cc1567-8W
Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he has received any protests from electrical and allied manufacturers against the payment of German reparations in kind; and whether there is any intention to discontinue the existing reparations system?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. In reply to the second part of the question, it has been decided to set up a Committee to make recommendations for the final settlement of the reparations question, but it is, of course, impossible to say whether, or in what way, any plan for the final settlement of reparations which may be adopted by the Governments concerned will alter the existing system of deliveries in kind.
