HC Deb 07 December 1928 vol 223 cc1568-9W
Mr. R. MORRISON

asked the Minister of Health whether, as a result of later information and the experience in administering the Widows', Orphans', and Old Age Contributory Pensions Act, 1925, any modification is needed of the statement made on page 9 of the Report by the Government Actuary on the Financial Provisions (Cmd. 2406, 1925) with regard to the effect of the decennial increases of contribution upon the proportion which the contribution paid for future entrants into insurance at the age of 16 will bear of the whole cost of the benefits up to the age of 70 conferred by the new scheme and of the cost of the old age pensions to which they will become entitled at 70?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

No, Sir. Section 43 of the Act provides for periodical Reports from the Government Actuary which will cover the subject of this question, but in view of the full estimates made in 1925 it would be premature to ask for such a Report at the present time.
