HC Deb 14 November 1927 vol 210 c646W
Mr. G. HARVEY

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he has evidence showing that action taken by the Food Council has succeeded in reducing the cost of living; and, if so, in respect of what commodities?

Sir B. CHADWICK

There has been a marked decline in food prices since the Food Council began their work; but, in the nature of the case, it is not possible to estimate how much of that reduction is attributable to their activities.
