HC Deb 04 March 1926 vol 192 c1648W

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he is aware that an ex-service man, who lost both legs in the War, has been engaged on clerical work and attending the telephone for the past six and a-half years in Rosyth Dockyard; that this man has now received notice, terminating his services on 31st March; and will he, in view of the fact that the man has no pension for his wife and children, and that it will be practically impossible to find other employment, consider the advisability of retaining him on the care and maintenance party?

Owing to the reduction of the dockyard to a care and maintenance basis, the particular duty on which this man has been employed will not be continued after 31st March. The hon. Member will appreciate the difficulty of finding suitable employment for such a man in the small care and maintenance party which will be retained at Rosyth but I am making inquiries, and will communicate with the hon. Member as soon as possible.
