HC Deb 23 February 1926 vol 192 cc346-7W
Sir T. DAVIES

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what amount of super-tax remained unpaid on 1st April, 1924, and on 1st April, 1925; and what steps are taken to enforce payment of any arrears?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The amount of Super-tax not paid in respect of which a demand for payment had been issued was £25,973,000 on 1st April, 1924, and £25,000,000 on 1st April, 1925. These figures would include charges to duty that were under appeal or under further inquiry. The collection of arrears of tax is continually proceeding and the rate of collection has now improved.
