HC Deb 10 February 1926 vol 191 c1074W
Mr. SCURR

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been drawn to the recent conviction of certain persons who combined the businesses of bogus company promoting and financial newspapers, and whether, in view of the losses suffered by small investors by reason of the operations of firms of this character, he proposes to introduce legislation dealing with the subject?

Sir B. CHADWICK

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative, and to the second in the negative. I do not know what particular form of legislation the hon. Member has in mind, but on the information before me I see no reason for thinking that the ordinary criminal law is inadequate to deal with offences of the kind in question.
