HC Deb 31 July 1924 vol 176 cc2280-1W
Mr. LIVINGSTONE

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether, in view of the fact that a training centre for young women has now been established in Stornoway, he will authorise and direct the appropriate Department to make this known throughout the island; and whether he will consider the establishing of a similar institution in Harris?

Mr. SHAW

I have been asked to reply. My information is that the Women's Committee of the Inverness Employment Committee, after inquiring carefully into the matter earlier this year, decided not to recommend the establishment of a training centre in Stornoway. It appears, however, that certain arrangements for individual training are being put into operation there, and I will consider whether it is necessary to give further publicity to these arrangements.
