HC Deb 21 July 1924 vol 176 c887W

asked the Minister of Pensions why he has reduced the disability retired pay of ex-regular officers under 15 years' service awarded under Army Order 289, 1920, paragraph 3, in view of the fact that the late Government pledged themselves to reduce no disability retired pay for three years; and whether the present Government accept that pledge?

The hon. Member refers, I presume, to awards based on service retired pay or half-pay rates. In such cases the reduction, so far as regards service rates, now being carried out by the Service Departments, is, under the terms of the warrants, bound to operate also in the few cases for which my Department is responsible. The flat-rate disability retired pay remains unaffected in virtue of the pledge referred to by the hon. Member, which I need not say has been unreservedly accepted by the Government.
