§ Mr. SUTTONasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will reconsider his position on the question of indirect taxation on the questions of sugar, tobacco, matches, mineral waters, beer, 2030W and other items affecting the ordinary British householder; whether he is aware that the working classes have suffered heavy reductions in their wages recently, and that the high taxes on the above articles are a hardship to them; and whether he can see his way to reduce the tax on the above-named articles?
§ Sir R. HORNEI would refer the hon. Member to my reply to the Debate on the Budget proposals on the 3rd instant.
