HC Deb 09 May 1922 vol 153 cc2024-5W

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he can arrange for return passages to this country for the wives and children of the rank and file of the 2nd battalion Royal Highlanders, seeing that many of these persons are living with German families in German houses in Cologne and its neighbourhood and have little prospect of rejoining the unit abroad?

Yes, Sir; in the special circumstances this can be arranged for those families who desire it, on the understanding that such families cannot on their return be immediately accommodated in public quarters, which are not available, and that they must pay their own fare from the port of disembarkation in this country to their homes.
