§ Major PRESCOTT asked the Minister of Labour if he is aware of the persistent refusal of the Beddington and Wallington Urban District Council to accept the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and the decision of the National Whitley Council for local authorities' administrative and clerical services; and what steps he proposes to take to induce the Council to give proper economic relief to its staff?
§ Dr. MACNAMARA: Representations on this matter have been received by my Department within the last few days, and a communication has been addressed to the Beddington and Wallington Urban District Council on the subject. My hon. and gallant Friend will, however, realise that I have no powers in the matter.
