HC Deb 08 July 1920 vol 131 cc1702-3W

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies when the sittings of the Cave Commission on the amount due by the Crown to the British South Africa Company will be resumed; when the Commission is likely to conclude its work; and whether steps will be taken as soon as its Report is received to reimburse the company the amount owed to it under the Privy Council judgment, and to take over the present financial liabilities of the company in respect of administrative services in Rhodesia?

Lieut.-Colonel AMERY: I am unable at the moment to give dates. No amount is at present, as I understand, owing to the company, but I am not prepared to make any statement of policy in anticipation of the Commission's Report.
