HC Deb 02 April 1919 vol 114 c1231W
Lieutenant-Colonel MALONE

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether, in view of the present scarcity of bricks, the use of reinforced concrete or other substitutes for building purposes has been considered; and, if so, what steps are being taken to ensure sufficient supplies of this material to enable building to be resumed forthwith?

Dr. ADDISON

Steps have been taken to stimulate the production of large quantities of bricks, and the question of being reinforced concrete or other substitutes is also receiving consideration. It is hot anticipated that there will be any shortage of cement and the Ministry of Munitions are taking measures to ensure an adequate supply.
