HC Deb 04 March 1918 vol 103 c1732W
Mr. SNOWDEN

asked the Minister of Labour why the Army doctors have not yet been superseded by civilian doctors on the medical recruiting boards, as promised; and will he say particularly why Major Muir, a Royal Army Medical Corps officer, is still the superintendent of the Camberwell Medical Board?

Mr. BECK

All Army doctors have been superseded by civilian doctors on the National Service Medical Boards. Dr Muir, who is chairman of the Camberwell National Service Medical Board, is not an officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps. He retired some years ago from the Royal Army Medical Corps and was subsequently for many years in general practice at Plymouth and held the appointment of honorary surgeon to the Plymouth Infirmary.
