HC Deb 04 March 1918 vol 103 c1732W
Mr. BYRNE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he will cause inquiries to be made into the conscripting of James Brennan, of 10, Nixon Street, Dublin; if he is aware that this boy is under nineteen years of age, and was sent by the Dublin Labour Exchange to Great Britain on 12th January, 1918; if he is aware that the Labour Exchange paid his fare to Manchester and the position only lasted a few weeks, and on seeking other employment was arrested and handed over to the military authorities to be dealt with by the Manchester County Police Court magistrate; and if he will see that this man is discharged, and that the Exemption Clauses of the Military Service Act are respected?

Mr. BECK

My hon. Friend has asked me to reply. Inquiries are being made into the matter, and I will inform the hon. Member of the result.
