asked the Secretary of State for War whether he can state the number of worn-out or cast Army horses which have been sold in France or Egypt since the commencement of the War; and whether this method of disposing of horses no longer fit for military service is still employed?

The number of cast Army horses sold since the beginning of the War up to the 1st September, 1916, has been:—

In France 17,922.
In Egypt 670.
To the last part of the question the reply is in the affirmative.
