HC Deb 16 February 1911 vol 21 cc1418-9W
Mr. GEORGE ROBERTS

asked the President of the Board of Education if his attention has been directed to the case of the three children of Mr. Philip Palmer, of Thurlton, Norfolk, who, having recovered from illness, were refused re-admission to school on the ground of inability to produce a doctor's certificate; whether he is aware that Palmer's sole income is 7s. 6d. per week, awarded him as compensation for an accident, therefore he is unable to engage a private practitioner; whether Palmer has applied for and been refused medical assistance, though the school examiner advises that the parish doctor should examine the children and give the necessary certificate; and whether he will cause inquiry to be made into the matter?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I have no information about this case, which has not come before the Board of Education. I am, however, making inquiries.
