HC Deb 16 February 1911 vol 21 c1419W
Captain BARING

asked the President of the Board of Education whether the attention of his Department had been drawn to the system of education invented by Madame Montessori in Rome; and whether it is proposed to make any trials of it in this country?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. With regard to the second part of the question, I am not prepared at present to make a definite statement. The matter is, however, being carefully considered. A report on the system has been received through the Foreign Office, and the Board have taken steps to obtain further information in regard to it by inquiry on the spot. The Board hope to receive a report in due course.
