HC Deb 16 February 1911 vol 21 c1418W
Captain FABER

asked the President of the Board of Education if he will state whether dispossessed teachers of schools not only lose their livelihood but also their pension increment whilst out of work?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

Under the superannuation scheme established by the Elementary School Teachers (Superannuation) Act, 1898, as in the case of most pension schemes, the allowances payable are determined by the length of recorded service. It is, however, provided by Rule 13 of the Treasury Rules made under Section 6 of the Act that an interval of unemployment, not exceeding six months, may be counted as recorded service on condition that the teacher shall have made the requisite contributions to the Deferred Annuity Fund in respect of that period as if he had been in recorded service.
