Major CAYZERasked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that there is a growing tendency amongst house agents and owners to insist upon a bonus being paid to them by in-going tenants; and whether the Government intends to take any action to prevent this practice.
Mr. PRATTI have been asked to reply to the question of the hon. and gallant Member. My right hon. Friend is not aware that the practice referred to is in creasing. I may; however, point out that any payment of such a bonus in the case of a house to which the Increase of Rents, etc., Acts apply would be recover able by the tenant.
