HC Deb 19 May 1909 vol 5 cc534-5W
Mr. O'SHAUGHNESSY

asked the Chief Secretary if he can say what decision the Estates Commissioners have come to with regard to the application for untenanted land of Charles O'Connor, evicted tenant, formerly of Ballingarry, in the county of Limerick, and now residing in James Street, Tralee?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners have decided not to take any action in regard to this application.

The SAME HON. MEMBER

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he can say whether the Estates Commissioners have inquired into the case of Hannah Barrett, alias Mackessy, of Lacka, Broadford, in the county of Limerick, evicted tenant; and, if so, whether they have taken any steps to have her reinstated in her former holding?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners have intimated to the owner's representative the price they would be prepared to advance under the Irish Land Act, 1903, for the holding, but up to the present proceedings have not been instituted before them for the sale of the lands. The Commissioners understand that Mrs. Barrett is at present in occupation of the lands as an 11 months' tenant.
