§ Mr. RENDALLasked the Postmaster-General for what reason the Bristol district sub-post offices of Fishponds, Kingswood, Staple Hill, and Downend are placed in Class 3 and the St. George office in Class 2?
§ Mr. BUXTONThe chief reason for the distinction lies in the distance of the sub-districts from the head office of Bristol. The St. George Post Office is but 2½ miles from the Bristol head office, and it seemed proper to place it in Class 2, that is one class below that of the head office. The offices at Fishponds, Kingswood, Staple Hill and Downend are situated at distances varying from nearly four to five miles, and, therefore, fall into Class 3. By this classification the postmen at all the offices in question benefit by an increased maximum.
