HC Deb 04 May 1909 vol 4 c1014W
Mr. WALTER ROCH

asked the President of the Board of Education whether the powers of the Board over the training of teachers in Wales have been transferred to the Welsh Department; and, if not, why this has not been done?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The powers of the Board of Education are exercised by the President. I have no intention of delegating or transferring those powers to any Department of the Board. The administration of questions relating to the training of teachers in Wales is not conducted through the Welsh Department, inasmuch as they are intimately bound up with questions relating to examinations and other matters which must necessarily be dealt with on the same lines, both in England and Wales.
