HC Deb 02 March 1909 vol 1 c1400W
Mr. CLYNES

asked the Postmaster-General if he can now state whether the conditions of the Fair Wage Resolution are being observed by Messrs. Charles Webster in connection with work for his Department; and, if not, what action he proposes to take in the matter?

Mr. SYDNEY BUXTON

Messrs. Webster comply with the Fair Wages Clause in their Mail Contract so far as their mail cart drivers are concerned. I have, however, received representations respecting the wages paid by them to their farriers and wheelwrights, who perform work incidental to the mail service. I am making inquiries on this point, and I hope shortly to be able to settle the matter.
