§ 8.22 p.m.
§ Baroness Denton of Wakefield rose to move, That the draft order laid before the House on 24th February be approved.
§ The noble Baroness said: My Lords, I do not disguise the fact that this is a complex order. However, it is aimed at simplifying complex titles to land in Northern Ireland. It can only be to the benefit of the economy. I say simply that if there are questions on the order I undoubtedly would have to write to your Lordships, and I shall be happy to do so.
§ I wonder whether the noble Lord, Lord Williams of Mostyn, will wish to take this opportunity to put on the record a reassurance to his colleagues in another place who wanted to be convinced that this is not another part of the lawyers' money-making machine, the major beneficiaries of which are lawyers rather than the public. I beg to move.
§ Moved, That the draft order laid before the House on 24th February be approved.—(Baroness Denton of Wakefield.)
§ On Question. Motion agreed to.
