Baroness Young

My Lords, I beg to move that this House do agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 17, and Amendments Nos. 18 to 20. I shall speak also to Amendment No. 22.

Amendments Nos. 18 to 20 and No. 22 clarify the meaning of "publish" currently in Clause 16(1)(b). It is clearly desirable that the LEA's statement of curricular policy should be widely available and of easy access. As copies have to be in each school, it is sensible to require schools to make them available for inspection. Similarly, Amendment No. 28 provides for public access to the governing body's statement on the curriculum.

I am grateful for the words of the noble Lord opposite and I am glad that he has accepted that the Government have made a great many responses to amendments put down either in your Lordships' House or in the other place.

Moved, That this House do agree with the Commons in the said amendments.—(Baroness Young.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
