HL Deb 06 July 1976 vol 372 c1139

2.35 p.m.

Lord O'HAGAN

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what action they have taken since the Central Policy Review Staff recommended a study of housing for the elderly in June 1975.

The PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY of STATE, DEPARTMENT OF THE ENVIRONMENT (Baroness Birk)

My Lords, the Government are currently analysing replies to their Consultation Paper on housing for old people published in April, which stresses the need for close collaboration at local level in planning overall services for the elderly. This is in line with the thinking of the Central Policy Review Staff.

Lord O'HAGAN

My Lords, will the Government publish the results of this inquiry and, if so, when?

Baroness BIRK

My Lords, I expect the results to be published. As the noble Lord will appreciate, the Consultation Paper itself was published only in April. We are now analysing the reply and that must take a period of certainly a month or so. Directly I have any information I will write to him.
