HL Deb 25 June 1973 vol 343 cc1771-2

[No. 37] Clause 15, page 18, line 5, at end insert "but nothing in this Act, and in particular nothing in any provision of this Act amending section 55 of the principal Act (which relates to accounts), shall affect the application of that section to a preserved Board".

LORD ABERDARE

My Lords, under Section 55 of the National Health Service Act 1946 the accounts of boards of governors of teaching hospitals are subject to examination by the Comptroller and Auditor General who also has responsibility for such accounts and laying copies of them, together with his report, before both Houses of Parliament. The Amendment secures that nothing in the Bill will affect the continued application of these provisions to any board of governors preserved by virtue of an Order under Clause 15. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Aberdare.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
