HL Deb 23 May 1968 vol 292 c878

[No. 21.]

Page 16, line 20, at end insert— ("(6) If any person who is not a duly authorised officer of a local weights and measures authority or of a Government department purports to act as such under this section he shall be guilty of an offence.")

LORD WINTERBOTTOM

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in this Amendment. This Amendment, which is based upon Section 45(2) of the Weights and Measures Act 1963, would make it an offence for a person who is not a duly authorised officer of a weights and measures authority or a Government Department to purport to act as one under Clause 27. I think the Amendment speaks for itself.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Winterbottom.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
