HL Deb 01 August 1961 vol 234 c95

Clause 64, page 50, line 33, at end insert— (7) Nothing in section fifty-four or section fifty-six of this Act shall authorise the imposition of any charge or condition in relation to the discharge of a trade effluent to which the exemption conferred by subsection (4) of section four of the Act of 1937 for the time being applies.")

4.30 p.m.

LORD BRECON

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with Commons Amendment No. 30. The purpose of this new subsection is to make it clear that the powers conferred by the Bill to impose charges and conditions in respect of exempted effluents—that is, those exempted under Section 4 (1) or 4 (2) of the Act of 1937—do not extend to any laundry effluent to which for the time being the exemption conferred by Section 4 (4) of the Act of 1937 applies. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Brecon.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
