HL Deb 23 October 1956 vol 199 cc908-9
LORD GORELL

My Lords, as your Lordships will know, I had a Question down on the Order Paper three months ago. I understand that it is for the general convenience of public business that that Question should be withdrawn. Now, by Private Notice, I will simply ask Her Majesty's Government whether they have any statement to make concerning the Death Penalty (Abolition) Bill.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT KILMUIR)

My Lords, with the permission of the House, I hope to make a statement on that subject at a convenient time in the course of business this afternoon.
